  • Cook Time : 15m
  • Ready In : 30m

Ingredients

500g Beef Mince

100g paste or sauce of any sort (see variation)

10g Fresh herb as desired, chopped

400g Bean shoots

1 carrot roughly grated

200g cabbage shredded

20g fresh coriander or spring onions chopped, including roots

3 tablespoons oil

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon sesame oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Method

Mix the mince,  sauce/paste and herbs in a medium to large bowl.  Season the mince with salt and pepper.  Divide the the meat into 8.  Turn them into balls then flatten them slightly into burgers.  Let it rest for about 10 minutes before cooking.  In a pan add the oil over a moderate heat.  When the pan is hot cook the burgers for roughly 5 minutes on each side. If the beef mince is of a good quality then it doesn’t need to be cooked long.  Lower grades of beef mince may require longer cooking so use your own judgement.  Remove the burgers and set it aside.

In the same pan add the fresh coriander or spring onions and return to high heat. When sizzling, let it cook for 30 seconds then add all the vegetables and stir-fry for roughly 2 to 3 minutes then season with the salt and pepper, soy and sesame oil.  Place the burgers on top and serve with boiled rice.

Variations and My Story

An easy everyday recipe but my fusion twist makes it a different idea for serving up.  I used my own onion, ginger, garlic, satay and sambal paste making up to 100g for the mix.  Use whatever is in your fridge or pantry even tomato and BBQ sauces mixed will do. Once you know what your family likes then you will know what to add next time you make this recipe. Use the stir-fry to serve as suggested or simply serve it in burger buns or served in mini buns as sliders.
